1. Going over the words with our mentees.
2. Stopping in the middle of the book and asking about the book.
3. Asking what the main idea of the passage is to them.

5. Looking at the pictures and asking what they get from it.
6. Asking them to explain in their own words what the book is about.
7. What the picture means and how it relates to the book.
8. Discussing the difference between different types of stories (poetry).

In the book, we read the book and then asked what it is about for the topic and main idea. We look at the book and its pictures and ask them what they think is going on relating to the book.
